FallCampout

WHO:
The Fall Family Campout is open to all Registered Pack 243 Cub Scouts, their parents, siblings, grandparents, and other immediate family members. All Cub Scouts must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

WHAT:

Come one come all to our annual Fall Campout! We'll be going to camp at Camp James Ray.
On Saturday we will have several activities for the scouts and family.

Other camping activities typically include:
-Campfire Program
-Games
-a night Hike
And more !

The site will have water, restroom facilities including individual showers with hot water nearby.

Not wanting to stay the night?  That's OK! Just come by for the day, stay for dinner and the campfire!

WHEN
Date: Friday, October 26th through, Sunday, October 28th, 2018
Time: Friday afternoon until Sunday late morning                                                                                                                                                                                                               
RSVP below as soon as possible!!!  We ask for an RSVP because "A scout is thrifty" and we would like to spend the hard earned funds wisely on the food and site reservations.

From Dallas: Take Highway 75 north to Denison, take exit 69 (Highway 120), and turn left at the light. Continue west on Highway 120 to Pottsboro, passing through town (staying in the left lane). At the intersection of Highway 120 and Highway 289, continue on Highway 120 for 5.1 miles. Turn left on Locust Rd (see camp direction sign), travel 1.8 miles to a 4-way stop (Paradise Store on the corner). Turn right on Mill Creek Rd, travel 2.1 miles. Camp James Ray entrance will be on the right (large stone entrance-way).  

From Frisco: Travel north on Highway 289. In Pottsboro, turn left onto Highway 120 and travel for 5.1 miles. Turn left on Locust Rd (see camp direction sign), travel 1.8 miles to a 4-way stop (Paradise Store on the corner). Turn right on Mill Creek Rd, travel 2.1 miles. Camp James Ray entrance will be on the right (large stone entrance-way).


HOW MUCH:
The pack pays for the campsitedinner, lunch and 2 breakfast meals for families.

Vehicles will be allowed to the campsite for loading/unloading at site (weather permitting) and must immediately be returned to parking lot.

Sleeping pad (for comfort – foam, cot, etc)
Camp chair
Fork, knife, spoon, plate, cup (1)
Flashlight, at least one – with extra batteries
Clothes
Extra Socks
Hat
Appropriate Cub Scout Book
Cub Scout/Cub Scout leader uniform (Field(A) & Activity(B) shirt)
Pajamas or sleepwear
Jacket, gloves, and warm cap, as required
by weather
Durable, closed toed shoes
Canteen or water bottle
Toiletries
No electronic games, etc.
Each Family:
Tent
Tent stakes
Rubber mallet
Ground cloth
Camp chair(s)
Bug spray
Sun screen
Toilet paper
Igloo cooler
First Aid Kit
Binoculars / Telescopes
Nature guides / Books/ Identification Charts
Fishing gear!!

The pack will provide food and drinks for the meals noted, however you may want to bring any special snacks as well as extra drinks for your family.

The pack will NOT provide dinner on Friday night, each family is responsible for that.  We will have stoves setup so you can heat up something if needed.

Bring camp chairs for all your family, there is limited benches at the picnic area we will be at!

We are also asking that families bring a mess kit (plate, bowl, cup, fork, spoon) per person in order reduce the amount of paper products used.  We will have wash basins setup for use after meals. 


Notes:
EACH SCOUT SHOULD HAVE A MEDICAL FORM FILLED OUT BEFORE THE CAMPOUT!  IT CAN BE FOUND HERE.
Families can put them in sealed envelopes if they are concerned about personal information and we will only open them in case of emergency then return them at the end of the campout.  Signed forms are good for one year.
