Independance day parade!

posted Jun 30, 2012, 9:14 PM by Pack Cubmaster
This Tuesday July 3rd Pack 243 will be participating in the Sachse Independence day parade, and all scouts are invited to be apart of the parade!

We will have a 'float' (25ft trailer) decorated and have the boys riding on it.  So please bring a small collapsible chair, or a 5 gallon bucket that they can sit on, some water to drink as it will probably be hot, and a hat (scout hat if they have one).  We would like all the boys to be in their class A/field uniform for the duration of the parade.  Depending on the number of scouts that will be there, we may not have room for all of the adults, so please plan parking arrangements accordingly.  We will stay at the end of the route until all scouts have been released to their family.

Decorations will consist of red white and blue streamers, flags (including the pack flag), face painting with red white and blue stars, and each scout holding a portrait of a past president.  We will be decorating the float on Monday night starting at 7:30 at my house (4908 Maple Shade Ave, Sachse).  Bring your scout by to help out with the trailer, and coloring some of the presidential cutouts!

We will start the lineup sometime after 5pm on the 3rd, but the parade does not start until 6pm.  To keep the boys from waiting too long and to apply any face paint, we would like the boys to be there after 5:30pm.

At the end of the parade we will wait a bit while the results of the float judging is finished (last year we took 1st place!), get a picture, then scouts are free to go.

Parking will most likely be an issue since the Sachse High School parking lot will *not* be available to park in.

At 7pm at Heritage park, there will be live entertainment and activities, then at 9:30pm there will be fireworks put on by the city.  Be sure to bring chairs, blankets and bug spray if you stay for the show.
More information on the event activities, entertainment, and parking is available at the city website HERE.

Hope to see you there!
